Minnehaha Chapter No. 227, Order of the Eastern Star, Grand Chapter of New York is celebrating over 125 years of community and charitable works. Nicknamed the chapter of “Harmony and Sparkle” in 1901, Minnehaha continues live up to this ideal and the Eastern Star principles of Charity, Truth, and Loving Kindness.
Through our continuous work in raising both funds and awareness for various Women and Children causes and organizations on the Chapter level, and our support of the efforts of our Grand Chapter in their philanthropic endeavors, the members of Minnehaha Chapter No. 227 ensure we embrace the moral principles that are taught the moment we joined- charity begins at home and always assist with loving kindness.
Whether it's working with nonprofits such as Project Linus and Canine Companions, hosting events to raise funds for Breast Cancer Research, or collecting items for Veterans and Children organizations our members come together with the hope that we bring comfort and support to those in need.

So, what is the Order of the Eastern Star?
The Order of the Eastern Star is a Social, Charitable, and Fraternal Organization to which both women and men can belong. There are approximately 48,000 members throughout the State of New York. The Order of the Eastern Star New York comprises over 300 Chapters and is divided into regional districts within the State of New York. The regional districts are usually composed of one or more counties. Our purpose is to provide an organization. Our purpose is to provide an organization
where women and men, with high moral and social character, can join and contribute time, energy, and knowledge to our Order with Charity, Truth, and kindness for the good of all. The Order of the Eastern Star membership supports many charitable organizations and programs. On New York State level, some of our programs are an Emergency Relief Fund, a Social Service Fund, an Educational Assistance Fund, and volunteer service to Veteran's Hospitals. Also supported is an Eastern Star Home for senior members in Oriskany, an Assisted Living Home for our members who are semi-independent, and a Day Care Center in Oriskany. In addition to supporting the State level efforts, Chapters also support their local charities through volunteer work and various donations.
We also help our Brothers in Freemasonry achieve their charitable goals. While not Masons, our organization is worldwide and affiliated with Masonic Grand Lodges across the globe. For the Grand Chapter of New York, our affiliation would be the Grand Lodge of New York.

We are more than a chapter; we are a family! In addition to all our goals, we make time to enjoy the extended family we have created. From traveling to fun game days, brunches to BBQs, and everything in between, our Chapter celebrates the Sisterhood and Brotherhood that comes with being a member and being the "Little Chapter among the Giants" in the Beautiful Bronx.
And that brings us to the Bronx Masonic District. Want to know why they are called The Beautiful Bronx Masonic District? It's because our Brothers
really are beautiful, inside and out! As the only Order of the Eastern Star Chapter located in the middle of the Beautiful Bronx Masonic District, our Brothers go above and beyond to ensure we always have the support we need to carry out both our mission and our Chapter ‘s vision.
